Which tools: CLEWS
Who’s involved: Government of Ghana (Northern Development Authority, National Development Planning Commission, Energy Commission) supported by UNDESA, UNDP, IAEA.
What's happening: A CLEW model is under development to help explore strategies for sustainable development in the context of the food-energy-water nexus and an inter-agency analytic team has been formed to conduct the analysis. The assessment is focused on the northern savannah region and the objective is to study pathways for growth and modernization. Key issues include: agricultural modernization, competition for water, bio-energy, energy security and energy affordability. With the aid of modelling based analysis, the aim is to identify policies and measures that balance these concerns in an effective and equitable manner.
