Which tools: CLEWs modelling and inter-institutional strengthening

Who’s involved: The Government of Ethiopia (Ministry of Water, Irrigation and Energy- MoWIE), supported by UNDESA, UNDP, the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA), and the British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT)

What's happening: A capacity development project has been devised to support the Government of Ethiopia to use a country-tailored CLEWs model to address specific policy needs for a well-informed integration of 2030 Agenda strategies in the Growth and Transformation Plan (GTP), on the ongoing phase (GTP II until 2020) and beyond (GTP-III- 2021-2025 and GTP IV 2026- 2030). In addition to model development, an assessment of the institutional arrangements required to design, implement and monitor cross-sectoral policies will be prepared, to support inter-institutional cooperation for integrated CLEWs related policies. The Ministry of Water, Irrigation and Environment (MoWIE) is leading the inter-institutional effort in this project, which aims to support the transition from sectoral to integrated policies informed by modelling tools.
